Former MLA Pinnelli arrested for breaking EVMs, abusing officials

Tense situation was prevailed at Macharla on the eve of municipal elections in the state.

Former MLA Pinnelli Lakshma Reddy created ruckus at the polling station and broke the EVMs there. He also abused the polling officials and agents there.

He also threatened the officials to kill them.

Police intervened and sent Lakshma Reddy out of the polling station.

The election commission responded fast on the incident and the leader may be arrested by Sunday evening.

Pinnelli caught a person red handed while the latter was voting illegally and questioned the officials there on the same.

Police officials, led by IG Suneel Kumar, had to lathicharge to bring the situation under control. 144 Section was imposed in the area. All the leaders involved in the incident were sent to the police station.

Lakshma Reddy was arrested by the police later.
