Badal loses Punjab, Amarinder loses Lambi

It was a sweat revenge for outgoing CM Parkash Singh Badal. Though his party was routed at the hustings, he managed to drub CM probable Amarinder Singh in Lambi assembly constituency. Badal, 89, won comfortably by a margin of 22,770 votes over the Congress party's Amarinder Singh, who is set to be the new Chief Minister. However, Amarinder was the clear winner from his traditional assembly constituency of Patiala-Urban. He won the Patiala seat by 52,407 votes.

Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat loses from both seats

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Saturday lost from both the Haridwar (Rural) and Kichcha seats, as the ruling Congress was handed a humiliating drubbing by the BJP in the hill state. Rawat lost the Haridwar (Rural) by 12,000 votes. His defeat comes as the Congress state unit president Kishore Upadhyay conceded defeat. The BJP is leading in over 55 seats in the state.

Goa CM loses elections

In what could be a major embarrassment for the BJP, its chief minister in Goa Laxmikant Parsekar suffered a humiliating defeat in Mandrem constituency of North Goa, losing by around 3,500 votes to Congress candidate Dayanand Sopte. This is being seen as the end of the road for this leader who is well connected with the RSS. Parsekar is known to be a strong campaigner and had won the seat three times.
