Hyderabad: Even as the Telangana DGP has been cautioning aspirants of police jobs against middlemen, an online fraud has created big problem to the candidates. A man hailing from Nizamabad was arrested by Central Crime Station police based on a complainst filed by an aspirant on Tuesday.

In the complaint, Sri Hari and another person said they paid the exam fee of Rs 403 for the constable post, but he did not receive any ackowledgement. The police after checking the credentials of the website, alerted people through media against this fake website. Then the fake website was shut down by its owner. Police traced Vedakumar in Nizamabad who created the website tslprb.com on January 1, 2016. He is believed to have created only to generate traffic and not to steal away the fees paid by the candidates. This is similar to the official website tslprb.in.

According to the police, this fake website was created only to generate advertisement revenue by posting hyperlinks which directs the user to the official website. T Prahakar Rao, CCS joint commissioner said, "So far, only one complainant has approached us and we have to verify if there are any more aggrieved persons due to the duplicate website and if there is any misappropriation of money. Our team is investigating."

On December 31, Telangana Police Recruitment Board(TPRS) had notified about 9,281 jobs.
