I Don’t Understand Unwarranted Controversy About My Citizenship: Akshay Kumar

New Delhi: Actor Akshay Kumar whose nationality has become the talk of the town had found himself in the soup again, when an old clip has emerged where Akshay is heard saying that 'Toronto is my home'.

"I must tell you one thing, 'This is my home. Toronto is my home.' After I retire from this industry, I'm going to come back here and stay here," he is heard saying in the video.

It was just yesterday (May 3) that Akshay clarified that he might hold a Canadian passport but he works and lives in India and pays all the taxes. He added that he feels disappointed that his citizenship has always been constantly dragged into 'needless controversy'.

The video had its share of trolling from Twitterati who labelled the actor as 'liar' and 'fake nationalist'.

The actor had faced severe criticism when he did not turn up to vote in Mumbai, while his wife Twinkle Khanna had cast her vote. Earlier this week, when he was asked why he was absent from the polling booth, he dodged the question saying  ‘Chaliye Beta (go, boy)' and walked off.

Interestingly, Akshay Kumar was the chosen one from the film industry whom Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a 'non-political interview’.
