Powerstar Pawan Kalyan's last blockbuster hit with his favourite director Trivikram Srinivas was Athariniki Daredi. It was a family entertainer and the top-notch performance of Pawan paired with Trivikram’s direction created wonders in Telugu. The movie received huge appreciation and love around the time of its release. It had emerged as one of the biggest hits in Pawan's career.

It is quite common to make hit movies into a remake. In the same way, Athariniki Daredi was remade in Tamil as 'Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven'. Simbu has reprised the role of Pawan Kalyan, but failed to attract audiences towards theatres. In the original, Athariniki Daredi Nadhiya's role was powerful after Pawan's role. In Tamil, Ramya Krishna appeared in Nadhiya's role and was noticed for her acting, but couldn't fare well at the ticket window.

We hear, 'Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven' Tamil version received poor ratings from critics. It has been barely surviving at the box office since the opening day. The film is likely to end up as a disaster in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, VRV was directed by Sundar C on Lyca Productions.
