NTR Mahanayakudu Release Postponed Over Yatra Threat?

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s recent outing NTR Kathanayakudu, the first part of the biopic based on the legenadary Telugu actor cum politician hit theatres over the Pongal weekend. The film went without a trace at the box office. NTR Kathanayakudu failed miserably at the box office and we hear that it has now made the filmmakers rethink their decision to release its sequel. NTR Mahanayakudu was supposed to release on January 24. We hear they have deferred the release date of the film to avoid a box office clash with Akhil's Mr Majnu and few others. The buzz is that the movie NTR Mahanayakudu is scheduled to release on February-8.

If sources are to be believed, NTR Mahanayakudu may not release on the promised date. The movie is expected to hit the screens on February-14. However, the makers are yet to respond on the release date of the movie. If NTR Mahanayakudu gets postponed as per reports, then Mammooty's Yatra, a Biopic on late Andhra Pradesh chief minister Dr YS Rakasekhara Reddy will have a smooth release at the box office. Yatra focuses on certain events leading up to Dr.YS Rajaekhar Reddy (YSR) padayatra or journey on foot across Andhra Pradesh in 2003. Mammootty will reprise the role of Dr.YSR. The posters and teaser of the movie have already received a thumping response from all corners. Yatra is set for a grand release on February 8 across the globe. There is also a buzz that YSR’s son and AP Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who’s riding high on the success of his recently concluded padayatra, is likely to be seen in a cameo.

The buzz is that the Mahanayakudu release delay is because of the YSR biopic which has been garnering good response ever since the makers shared the trailer. After Kathanayakudu failed to garner enough eyeballs, the makers now want to play is safe.
