Mega Actors Kickstart Telugu Box Office in 2018  

Tollywood has more actors from Mega family than any other, as we know. Mega star Chiranjeevi sits right at the top as the head of the family. It was Chiranjeevi, who had introduced various actors right from his brother Pawan Kalyan to his son Ram Charan. Apart from Pawan Kalyan and Ram Charan, other stars from the mega family, include Allu Arjun, Varun Tej, Sai Dharam and Niharika.

The year 2018 began with powerstar Pawan Kalyan's Agnyaathvaasi which was the first film to be released in the beginning of this year. But, the film failed miserably at the box office.

Sai Dharam's Intelligent is a rom-com drama which did ordinary business at the ticket window, but was nothing to write home about. Directed by V V Vinayak and the music was composed by S. Thaman, the movie could barely pass muster.

Varun Tej had delivered back to back hits with Tholi Prema after Fidaa. This year Varun's Tholi Prema is a small budget but raked in a substantial amount at the box office. Varun Tej was seen playing the role of a software engineer in the film.

Ram Charan's Rangasthalam which was recently completes 100 days of its release.The talk about the film refuses to die anytime soon. Rangasthalam has become the biggest blockbuster hit in the actor's career. It has also got shortlisted for screening in Indian Film Festival of Melbourne-2018. Directed by Sukumar, the movie features Samantha, Aadhi and Jagapathi Babu in lead roles.

Stylish star Allu Arjun's Naa Peru Surya also released around summer time. Naa Peru Surya faced competition from Ram Charan's Rangasthalam, but Bunny's film didn't set the cash registers ringing at the box office. Bunny was seen playing the role of a powerful army soldier in the film.

Sai Dharam Tej's other film Tej I Love U was released in the second half of the year, bombed miserably at the box office.It is directed by A.Karunakaran and also features Anupama Parameshwaran and Surekha Vani in lead roles.

Vijetha Mega star Chiranjeevi's son-in-law Kalyaan Dhev has also begun testing the Tollywood waters. His film has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

As we can see, it's been a mixed bag for the mega family with an assortment of hits and failures.
