Dulquer, Irrfan and Mithila On Karwaan Journey
Ronnie Screwvala's Karwaan revolves around 3 oddballs from different walks of life who are thrown together on a somewhat bizarre journey which helps them find normalcy in their lives. The film is directed by debutant Akarsh Khurana the writer of Krish and Krish 3.
The film stars Irrfan Khan also Bollywood debut for Dulquer Salmaan who is a superstar in Malayalam film industry and Mithila Palkar is already an internet sensation with her very popular web shows. The three actors never met each other before the first day of the shoot. The story is about three people who develop their chemistry during a road journey. Director Akarsh Khurana wanted to show their natural growing chemistry and deep relationships in the film. Akarsh planned not to keep any rehearsals for the film and to not let them meet before the shoot starts. So not meeting eachother was actually a part of their rehearsal. the film shows road journey between not so known people and then they become very good friends.
The three actors have developed special and deep bonding for each other that when It was the last day of Irrfan's shoot, Mithila and Dulquer arranged a surprise wrapup party on the set itself. Irrfan Khan is in the UK for his treatment but he took some time off to tweet for his co-actors. he tweeted, "Beginnings have the innocence that experience can’t buy. My best wishes to @dulQuer , @mipalkar for joining the karwaan. ‘ Two karwaans ‘ …. Mine and the movie !!" He wished them a good luck for their debut in Bollywood.
Director Akarsh Khurana's quote: "Dulquer, Irrfan, and Mithila met for the first time on location in Ooty. Even in the film that is where Mithila's character meets the men for the first time. We shot mostly chronologically, so the actors' relationships developed as the characters' relationships developed. This worked out quite well. You can see the comfort build through the film, which may not have been something we could have devised authentically if we had not shot in sequence."
