Hyderabad: A 20-year-old woman in Hyderabad committed suicide on Saturday after she failed to repay the loan taken from her sister due to government's demonetisation decision. Kamran Jah from Tappachabutra area here had taken a loan of Rs 50,000 from her sister Afsan Jah and repayed a part of it, Rs.30,000, on November 7.

On November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced government's decision to demonetise Rs.1000 and Rs.500 notes. However, Kamran Jah planned to repay the remaining twenty thousand rupees money to her sister on November 14 and she got the cash ready but in now-defunct currency notes. Afsan refused to accept those notes and she demanded for new currency notes.

Kamran had only the defunct currency notes which she failed to exchange for new notes. Failure to exchange the notes and repay her loans, Kamran resorted to suicide.

Kamran went to banks to get her old notes exchanged with new notes for the last three days but she failed to acquire them. Kamran got upset with this and committed suicide by hanging at her house on Saturday morning when no one was at home. Kamran's family members rushed her to hospital. There, they hid the fact that she hanged herself and told doctors that she suffered a heart stroke. Doctors, as per the information given by her family members, operated on her heart and she died soon after the completion of surgery. Alleging negligence of the doctors, Kamran's relatives staged a protest in front of the hospital.
