Hyderabad Doctor Arrested For Misbehaving With Female Patient

Hyderabad: A doctor from a government hospital in Uppal was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a female patient. The incident took place on Thursday when the woman visited the government hospital in Chilkanagar for the treatment of a persisting headache and backache.

However, the duty doctor, identified as K Balraj allegedly first cut her hair and later, under the pretext of massaging her, touched her inappropriately.

Fearing embarrassment, the patient did not reveal about the incident to her husband until Saturday following which she approached the Uppal police to file a complaint.

The woman immediately rushed out of the hospital. A heated confrontation took place between the woman's relatives and the doctor on Saturday with the doctor getting thrashed. The police who was informed of the situation took all of them to the police station for an inquiry. The woman lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case of outraging the modesty of a woman.

In her complaint, the victim, who is a 36-year-old resident of Chiluka Nagar told that the Balraju allegedly took her into a chamber and touched her inappropriately. The accused was then arrested by the police. As per the preliminary investigation, the doctor who had completed MBBS was recently posted to the hospital but his posting orders were not issued as the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was in place due to the elections.

District Medical and Health Officer of Medchal district Dr Narayan Rao has initiated an internal inquiry into the case.
