Couple Attacked In West Godavari, Girl Dies

Kamavarapukota: A young couple was brutally attacked in Guntupalli of West Godavari district on Sunday. While the boy suffered serious injuries in the incident, the girl died on the spot.

According to the details shared by the locals and the police, the Bouda Aramala caves located near Kamavarapukota witnesses a huge rush on Sunday due to which routine security checks are conducted in the most desolate areas of the region. During a check around 2.45 pm on Sunday, a security guard, Satish found the couple covered in blood near a Buddhist cave.

He immediately informed the police who reached the spot and found the girl already dead.

Chintalapudi CI Wilson identified the boy as Naveen, who suffered serious injuries all over his body and face. With the help of the locals, the injured was shifted to Eluru government hospital. Jangareddygudem DSP CH Muralikrishna examined the crime scene and observed that the girl suffered a deep injury to the back of her head. The police suspect that a bludgeon, found near the body was the weapon used for the attack.

Douluri Naveen belonged to Arjavari Gudem in Bheemili Mandal while Theri Sri Dharani (18) was from MM Puram in Unguturu Mandal. The two of them came to visit the Buddhist Monuments at 11.30 am on a motorcycle.

According to the security officials, 85 tourists visited the place on Sunday.

Suspicions are raised on the death of the young girl. It is also being suspected that the girl was sexually assaulted based on the way her cluttered clothes. The police found the couple's name written on a boulder near the crime scene. No mobile phones were retrieved from the crime scene.

Sri Dharani was identified by the bus pass found in her bag.

was studying BSc (MPC Group) first-year in a private college in Polasanipalli while Naveen discontinued his B.Com first-year studies this year. He helped his father in painting works. The couple met each other during their Intermediate studies in the same college. The police are investigating the case from every aspect and have registered a case in this regard.
