Guntur: A 23-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Prakasam district on Thursday.

The women, Priyanka was found hanging to a ceiling fan by her mother. While Priyanka's family rushed her to the Chilakaluripet Government hospital, she succumbed to death on Friday while undergoing treatment.

Priyanka got married to Naveen from Martur last year. The couple who had been in love for a long time faced opposition from Priyanka's parents when they decided to get married. However, for the sake of Priyanka, her parents agreed and the couple got hitched.

Within one-year of marriage, Priyanka, however, was found dead at her residence. Priyanka's family members alleged that her in-laws were the cause of her death.

According to the details given by Priyanka's mother Rojaramani, Naveen dealt in granite business at Martur. After the marriage, the couple started having disagreements with Naveen seeking dowry from Priyanka's parents. In this regard, Naveen constantly harassed Priyanka.

For an event being held at their house, Priyanka's mother called her to invite but with her not answering the phone calls, she grew suspicious and visited the couple's residence in Martur.

However, she found her daughter hanging to a ceiling fan in her house. Priyanka's parents alleged that the in-laws killed their daughter and demanded justice.
