Hyderabad: Popular multiplex from the city of Hyderabad has been booked by the tax officials for overpricing of tickets. Complying to the GST council’s new norms the ticket price should be lowered by 18% for the ticket more than Rs 100 and 12 % on the ticket, whose price is less than Rs100.

But the authorities of Prasads Imax have maintained the same price. While with the new norms the price of Rs 150 ticket would come down to Rs 138. The multiplex has a total of six screens, of which the last one is a big screen for which viewers are charged up to Rs 250.

When the tax officials bought the tickets from the box office to three screens they found that the authorities have not reduced the prices following the new law in vogue, while Inox in GVK One and PVR in Punjagutta have reduced the ticket prices.

According to a senior official, the anti-profiteering team had found that Prasads Imax was indulging in restricted trade practices punishable under the anti-profiteering norms. Under Section 171 of the CGST Act, 2017 action also had been initiated against Prasads Imax by the principal commissioner of the Hyderabad GST commissionerate. He added benefits of GST reduction should be passed on to all viewers.
