Vikarabad Lovers Married At Hospital After Suicide Attempt

Hyderabad: A couple from Vikarabad attempted suicide, for the fear of being separated. Later, they got married at a hospital. According to details Reshma 19, and Nawaz 21 were in love over the past two years. Fearing that she would be separated from her boyfriend Nawaz, Reshma attempted suicide by consuming poison and was admitted to a hospital.

Reshma, a college dropout and a resident of Athevely, in Vikarabad district, fell in love with Nawaz, two years ago. It also came to light that Reshma’s elder sister is married to Nawaz’s brother. The family learned of Reshma and Nawaz’s relationship but objected to it because of differences between the two families.

Reason for objection from their parents as being stated by sources close to the family is said to be some issues that cropped up from the groom's side at Reshma sister’s wedding which turned violent and her parents, Khaja Pasha and Hafiza, were against their second daughter getting married into the same family.

Depressed over the issue of her marriage, Reshma went to the nearby farmlands and consumed pesticide. Locals found her lying unconscious and rushed her to the government hospital.

On hearing this, her 21-year-old boyfriend Nawaz rushed to the hospital. Doctors asked for the pesticide bottle to provide correct antidote, Reshma’s family gave it to them. Nawaz, who was standing by the side, snatched the bottle and consumed pesticide to end his life. As Reshma’s condition turned serious, the doctors referred her to Osmania General Hospital, Hyderabad. However, the families admitted the duo to Crawford Mission Hospital in Vikarabad, in order to save time.

According to the doctor of the hospital, “I spoke to the patient regarding her family and she narrated the story. Later, I called the family and counseled them. Reshma’s condition was turning serious and the couple insisted on marriage. To prevent another such attempt, the family finally agreed to their wedding." Three days after the incident took place, the family called a qazi and the couple was married at the same hospital.
