Chennai: A groom got kidnapped by a gang within one hour of getting married. The incident took place on Friday at Selam, Chennai. Sivanandam (23) working in a plastic manufacturing company as an engineer and Poornima (21) who is also working in the same company had been in love for three years. Recently, Poornima's parents agreed to their marriage while Sivanandam's parents refused the proposal.

On Friday , the couple were married in the presence of Poornima's family members at Pachayappan temple, near Bhavani bus stand. Later, the couple went to Sangameshwar temple. After their prayers, they were going to the Sub-Registrar’s office in a car. Meanwhile, a gang of 20 members stopped them and kidnapped Sivanandam.

A depressed Poornima filed a complaint with Bhavani police station. In her complaint, she stated that the people who kidnapped arrived in a car and five bikes. When she tried to rescue him, they pushed her away, she stated. She also mentioned that the gang included five people who were their colleagues. The police filed a case and started probing the matter.

Recently, in a similar incident, A newlywed man disappeared after one month of his marriage. His wife wanted to know his whereabouts and filed a complaint on Wednesday with the Puttaparthi rural police station.

On November 2, Anjaneyulu got married to Gangamma. Later they went to Buggapalli on November 22nd and spent 10 days happily. He suddenly disappeared on the evening of December 3rd. His family members searched everywhere but could not find him. His wife asked the police to take immediate steps to trace him. She also requested people to inform about his whereabouts on the numbers 9535238979, 8309975202 if they happened to locate him.

Recently, in a similar incident, Nine minor girls reportedly went missing from a shelter home in the national capital, after which Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday called for officials concerned to be placed under suspension.

According to a letter written by Delhi Commission of Women head Swati Maliwal to Sisodia on Monday, nine girls went missing from Sanskar Ashram for Girls in Dilshad Garden on the intervening night of December 1 and 2. "The shelter home authorities say they have no clue on how and when these girls went missing. Their absence was discovered only in the morning of December 2," Maliwal wrote. An FIR has been registered by the Delhi Police, she said and a probe is underway.
