Chennai Man Kills Girlfriend, Shoots Himself

Chennai: A facebook relationship led to love and finally, ended in a murder and suicide. A Chennai man killed his beloved on her birthday and later committed suicide.

The deceased Saraswathi (23), daughter of Sekhar and Mariammal, was in her third year of MBBS. Her parents dreamed of Saraswathi becoming a doctor. As it turned out, she secured a seat in medicine in a private college in Chennai.

She was pursuing her third-year MBBS. Meanwhile, she met Karthik Vel (27), who was in the commando force of the police, through Facebook. Karthik used to work in the security wing of VVIPs. Saraswathi and Karthik started chatting with each other and soon their friendship turned into love. They were in a relationship for four years. They always used to argue with each other, mainly because Karthik was unable to digest the fact that Saraswathi is close to one of her classmates.

Saraswathi went to her native place to celebrate her birthday and also invited Karthik to the party. When the party got over, they were talking in a room without locking their door. Her parents were watching TV in another room. Around 2 AM in the early hours of Wednesday, they heard the sound of a gunshot. Soon they rushed to the room and found that both had died. The police reached the spot and collected the details and also seized Karthik's gun.

According to the police, they both had an argument over Saraswathi's classmate. Karthik felt she was avoiding him and asked her to marry him immediately. But she rejected the proposal and in a fit of rage, Karthik fired two bullets into her chest, killing her instantly.He then, shot himself dead. The police filed a case and a probe is on.
