Student Commits Suicide In Krishna District Over IIIT Seat 

Krishna Dist:The spate of suicides by students seems to continue unabated. Despite getting a 10 on 10 GPA in her tenth grade a student from Chatrayi mandal in Krishna District committed suicide as she could not secure a seat in the IIIT. Speaking to Sakshi, her mother said that her daughter Manju was very depressed after being unable to secure a rank to get a seat in the Indian International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) and committed suicide by hanging at her home today. More details are awaited.

The incident highlights the need for counselling at all levels in the education sector, beginning with high schools.
