Cong victory in Coop polls a morale booster: Botsa

The thumping success of Congress-backed candidates in the polls held for agriculture cooperative societies has proved that farmers have reposed faith in the party-led Government in Andhra Pradesh, State Congress President Botsa Satyanarayana said on Tuesday.

The PCC chief hoped that the party would repeat its superb performance in future elections in Andhra Pradesh, where Assembly poll is due next year.
Though the elections to Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) were held without party affiliation, the candidates are supported by one party or another.
Having suffered severe drubbing in a series of bypolls held for Assembly seats in the last few years on account of the Telangana and Jaganmohan factors, the success in the PACS has come as a morale booster for Congress.
To a query on his recent remarks about so-called expulsion of nine party MLAs which triggered criticism that the Congress Government lost its majority, the PCC President said all those who abide by the Congress policies are treated as Congressmen. Those who have submitted resignations or did not respect Congress are treated as having been removed, he maintained.
