Class 10 Girl Gang-Raped And Murdered At Parvatipuram

Vizianagaram: A class 10 girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered at Parvatipuram on Friday. The incident came to light on Saturday after the villagers found the girl's body floating in a water tank.

According to the police, the girl, a native of Reddayavalasa village in Bobbili is studying Class 10 at Gadhevalasa village near Sithanagaram in Parvatipuram. On Friday, the victim went to her home to have lunch and was returning to school on a cycle. One of the accused disrupted her near a wine shop and took her to nearby mango orchard. He then called his three friends and gang-raped her. Later the gang strangled her to death with a dupatta and dumped the body in a water tank.

A medical shop owner P. Achyuth told the police that he saw the girl talking to a person, identified as D. Shankar Rao of same village. The other three accused were identified as Songala Lokesh, Chukka Rambabu, and Kondeti Raviteja.

The police arrested the three accused and launched a hunt to nab Shankar Rao, who went absconding.
