Chandrababu gifts himself Rs 20 crore office on Dussehra

Dussehra is gift giving time. So Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu gifted himself a swank new office worth Rs 20 crore on Dussehra day. Originally, it was said that the office would cost around Rs 10 crore but it turned out that the cost of the new office is around Rs 20 crore.

The 8th floor of the L Block in Secretariat had been chosen for his office and accordingly all necessary modifications had to be carried out at a cost of over Rs 20 crore.

A spacious chamber for the chief minister with bullet-proofing besides a conference hall, a meeting hall for the Cabinet, visitors' lounge and chambers of his principal secretaries and secretaries were built on the 8th floor.
All this will only be a temporary arrangement till the AP Secretariat is constructed in the state's new capital Vijayawada. It will, however, happen only three years later.
Till then, the chief minister will function from the Secretariat in Hyderabad, the temporary capital of the state.
Four months after he assumed charge, the AP CM Friday finally got an office to function from.
On the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dasami, Naidu today formally stepped into his official chamber on the 8th floor of L Block in the AP Secretariat amid Vedic chants.
Only bureaucrats and a couple of advisers to the government accompanied the chief minister on the occasion.
Ever since becoming the chief minister of the truncated state in June, Naidu had been operating from a temporary "camp office" in the Lake View Guest House in Hyderabad as his office chamber in the Secretariat had to be built afresh.
Initially, the south H block in the Secretariat has been readied for the chief minister's office but Chandrababu chose not to occupy it because the "vaasthu" was said to be not good.
A new chamber for the state chief secretary was built on the 7th floor in the same block.
