Ahmedabad: The key to success is said to be hard work and 17-year-old girl from Ahmedabad in Gujarat proved this adage true by topping her class 12 exams despite coming from an economically deprived background. A student of FD High School, Juhapura, the teen has scored 99.72 percentile in medical stream and she aspires to be a doctor.
Farhana Bavani stood first in Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, results of which were declared on Thursday. He father Farooqbhai runs an autorickshaw and is the only breadwinner of the family.
"Don’t ever think that if you don’t have a good background, you can’t make it in life. With hard work, everything is possible. My father drives an auto rickshaw so we had some financial issues but he gave his full support to me and bought all the materials required for my studies," Farhana says.
Amidst celebrations, her mother Shamim Bavani is unhappy that Gujarati and English medium papers of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) are different and the combined results may affect her daughter and many other students. Farhana appeared for the test to get admission into MBBS.
"We have just one wish, the government must separate the Gujarati and English medium results. Maybe then our daughter’s work and dedication will yield results and her dream to become a doctor will come true," Shamim said.
