YS Jagan Condoles Death Of Veteran Telugu Journalist Potturi Venkateswara Rao

AMARAVATI/HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep condolences over the death of senior Telugu journalist Potturi Venkateswara Rao.

Potturi Venkateswara Rao (86) passed away on Wednesday morning at his residence in Hyderabad, after battling illness at a private hospital in the city.

The Chief Minister in his message praised his role in Telugu journalism and said that Potturi Venkateswara who served for more than five decades was someone who left a lasting impact in the field of journalism.

He also said that Potturi, who served as the chairman of the Press Academy during the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, had trained many writers and journalists under his guidance. The Chief Minister expressed deepest condolences to the family members of Potturi Venkateswara Rao.

Born on February 8, 1934, at Potturu in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh, Potturi started his career as a journalist in 1957 at the Andhra Janatha Telugu newspaper.

He had rendered services as a journalist for more than five decades in Telugu news media including Eenadu, Andhra Bhoomi, Vaartha and Andhra Prabha. Apart from being a journalist, Potturi also authored and co-authored a few books, including one on former Prime Minister, PV Narasimha Rao called as Years of Power.and written several prolific essays and had written for most of the columns in Telugu dailies.
