Liquor Sales Down By 34 Per Cent, Govt Committed To Liquor Ban: AP CM

AMARAVATI: Reacting to Chandrababu Naidu's claim that the Andhra Pradesh government has not brought down liquor sales, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said that the state's liquor sales have declined by 34.84 per cent under the present dispensation.

He said that after coming to power, the YSRCP government has banned 43,000 belt shops and permit rooms. During Chandrababu Naidu's regime, there were 4,380 liquor shops which were reduced to 3,456 now, the CM added.

YS Jagan lashed out at Chandrababu Naidu for speaking lies in the Assembly.

He said that liquor stores have been reduced by more than 20 per cent so far and are strictly permitted to operate only between 11 am to 8 pm in the state.

He added that state government has formed strict laws to prohibit the illegal transportation of alcohol and the persons will be booked under non-bailable offence, while warning that bar owners license will be cancelled if they violate the regulations, said AP CM.
