YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government Working Towards Inclusive Growth

AMARAVATI: The juggernaut is rolling in a clock-like precision, taking steps towards fulfilling each and every promise made during the Padayatra that reflected in the Party manifesto which formed the voice and aspirations of the people and the faith they have reposed in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy by giving a thumping mandate.

The aim of inclusive growth involving all sections, more so, the marginalised sections, and launching welfare schemes that touch every family, besides bringing in path-breaking legislation and decisions that have far-reaching benefits are the hallmarks of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government which completed six months today.

Every promise made during the 3,648 km padayatra has found its way into a manifesto which is translating into reality from social justice to the empowerment of weaker sections, welfare of farmers and agriculture, high priority to medical, education and welfare sectors besides providing transparent and corruption-free governance.

On the education front, introduction of English medium from primary level, besides Amma Vodi which will come into force soon, where the mother will be incentivised for sending her children to school up to Intermediate and full fee reimbursement along with Rs 20,000 towards hostel and mess charges and added to this Skill Development Centres at all 25 constituencies to prepare the students as a formidable workforce is the package which is iced with 75% reservation to locals in industries. A separate corporation was formed to appoint outsourcing employees to weed out middlemen.

Social inclusiveness was displayed with 60 % of the cabinet berths being given to weaker sections and four of the five Deputy Chief Minister posts going to the marginalised sections and a BC candidate getting the Speaker post. This apart, 50% reservations are provided to SCs, STs, BC, Minorities and Women in all nominated posts and contract works.

Firm steps are being taken towards total prohibition, with restricted timings, hike in licence fees for bars and liquor being sold through Government Corporation and belt shops being wiped out.

Farmer welfare being the priority area Rythu Bharosa was launched with the first instalment being credited into the bank accounts directly. Several measures, including setting up of Rs 3,000 core Market Stabilisation Fund and Rs 2,000 core Calamity Relief Fund, setting up of Agriculture Mission and starting an outlet at every Village Secretariat exclusively to supply quality seeds, fertilizers and pesticides are among the measures.

Setting up Judicial Preview Commission and reverse tendering has benefited the state over Rs 1,300 crores. Village Secretariats have turned a new leaf in the State’s public policy with the creation of over 4 lakh jobs and the volunteers taking the welfare measures to the doors of the beneficiaries being a major leap towards welfare.

Renovation of government schools and hospitals under Nadu Nedu, YSR Kanti Velugu which provides eye screening, surgeries and supply of spectacles in two phases, enhanced pensions, setting up of BC Corporation with Rs 1,101 crores, Spandana to redress people grievances, and fight against corruption by launching a Citizens Call Centre, New sand policy, YSR Nava Sakam to help MSMEs are some of the highlights.

House site pattas to 25 lakh poor families, the merger of RTC, weekly off to police personnel, YSR Asara to women groups, YSR Cheyutha are some of the schemes.

The important schemes launched by the YSRCP government:-

YSR Rythu Bharosa

The government has launched a scheme to provide an annual investment of Rs 13,500 to each farmer and so far 45.82 lakh farmers have been covered under the scheme. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials to cover 2.14 lakh farmers additionally within a week. Quality seeds and pesticides would be made available to the farmers at the village secretariats. Similarly, workshops would be conducted for farmers to train them in modern farming techniques. Price stabilization fund has been set up with Rs 3,000 crores and quality testing centres have been set up in all the constituencies to rest the quality of seeds and fertilisers. A calamity relief fund has been arranged with Rs 4,000 crore (state and Central funds included) and Agri Commission has also been set up. A Bill has been enacted to provide the right to cultivation to lessee farmers. Previous government’s input subsidy arrears of Rs 2,000 crores has been released and input subsidy has been enhanced by 15%. Other salient features of the scheme are the provision of 9 hours free power supply during day time, setting up of agriculture laboratories, provision of power supply at a cost of Rs 1.50 to aqua farmers.

YSR Vahana Mitra

This scheme with a provision of Rs 10,000 per year is for benefit of auto-rickshaw and cab drivers to be useful for vehicle fitness, insurance and for repairs. So far, Rs 236 crores have been released for the benefit of 2,36,349 drivers in two phases.

YSR Kanti Velugu

This scheme entails free Eye tests and surgery to all. In the first phase, 70 lakh students were provided with primary eye tests. In the second phase, necessary surgery would be provided along with spectacles. Community-based eye tests would be carried out the remaining phases from February next.

YSR Matsyakara Bharosa

This scheme has been launched for fishermen to provide them Rs 10,000 during the lean period of two months from April 15 to June 14 when fishing is prohibited. In all, 1.35 lakh fishermen would be benefited by this scheme. The ex gratia to the families of fishermen who die in harness has been increased from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs. Three new fishing harbours would be established in the state. An amount of Rs 73.24 crores ex gratia has been paid to fishermen who lost their means of livelihood due to oil exploration in Mummidivaram.

YSR Kapu Nestam

This scheme has been launched for the Kapus with an outlay of Rs 1.101 crores in the first year. Kapu women who have crossed 45 years would get Rs 15,000 every year up to Rs 75,000.

YSR Pension Scheme

The Chief Minister had put his first signature on this scheme by enhancing the pension to Rs 2,250. It will be annually Increased by Rs 250 up to Rs 3,000. The age limit for the pension has been reduced from 64 years to 60 years to cover more people.

YSR Arogyasri

This scheme applies to all those whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakhs. The scheme applies to those whose medical bill crosses Rs 1,000. Medical aid would be provided to get treatment in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru. Medical aid ranging from Rs 225 to Rs 5,000 per month would be provided during the recuperation period.

As part of Nadu-Nedu schemes government hospitals would be upgraded on par with corporate hospitals for which Rs1,500 crores has been sanctioned.

Jagananna Vidya Deevena, Jaganna Vasathi Deevena

Fee reimbursement would be provided to poor students under Vidya Deevena and as part of Vasati Deevena, Rs 20,000 would be provided to each student for boarding and lodging. This scheme would be applicable to students studying in government, aided and private degree colleges. An amount of Rs 5,668 crores has been allocated for this scheme to cover 11.44 lakh students.
