Kodela Siva Prasad Rao’s Son Surrenders In Guntur Court, Granted Bail

Guntur: Former Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker late Kodela Siva Prasad Rao's son Sivarama Krishna surrendered before a court on Tuesday.

He surrendered before First Additional Munsif Magistrate Court in Narsaraopeta in Guntur district as various cases were booked against him. He was subsequently granted anticipatory bail by the court.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on August 31st had directed both Kodela and his son to surrender in cases registered by the police against them , based on complaints by some people, who alleged that they exploited and harassed them during the last few years.

The High Court had passed the orders while refusing to grant them anticipatory bail. On September 16, Kodela, a senior leader of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), committed suicide at his house in Hyderabad.

Several cases were booked against him and his family members as some people approached police alleging that they Kodela's family were indulging in extortion during the last few years in the Narsaraopet and Sattenapalli regions.

Police had also booked Kodela and his son on August 25 for allegedly diverting Assembly furniture to his son Sivaram Krishna's bike show room in Guntur. A case was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 409 (cheating) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property).
