JC Sharma Appointed Chairman For Beda Budga Jangam Commission

Amaravati: The Social Welfare department has appointed retired IAS officer JC Sharma to head the One-Man Commission, constituted to resolve issues related to the Beda/Budga Jangam community people on Thursday. A GO was issued to this effect by the Social Welfare department , ratifying his appointment to head the One Man Commission.

The Commission seeks to deal with issues related to including the Beda/Budga Jangam community in the Scheduled Castes, issue ST certificate to the Bentho Oriya community (from Srikakulam). The Commission also seeks to conduct verification of bogus certificates and other issues related to people belonging to non scheduled communities.

The commission was constituted to study the socio-economic status of the Beda Budaga Jangam community and had collected opinions of community, and asked the community members to express their opinions in a free and fair manner before the commission.

This order reinstates him as the Chairman of the Commission for which he was heading earlier. The Commission headed by J C Sharma had earlier conducted the meetings in eight districts in 2018 to know about the status of Beda/Budga Jangam community in the state and was suppose to submit a report to the government in March 2019 with its recommendations.
