Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the State government would construct three new medical colleges and five hospitals specifically to treat illnesses related to cancer and two hospitals to treat kidney ailments. These upcoming hospitals will made accessible to poor providing world-class healthcare, he added.

Taking to Twitter, YS Jagan on Tuesday said: "Efforts are being made to bring healthcare back on track, which has so far gone awry. Proposals are being worked out to construct three medical colleges and five cancer and two kidney hospitals to extend support to the poor patients. As per priorities, government hospitals, 108 and 104 services will be improved."

During his Praja Sankalp Padayatra, YS Jagan exposed the failings of the TDP government in providing decent healthcare to the poor. The situation of hospitals had gone from bad to worse. The services such as 104, 108, and Aarogyasri initiated by the former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy have taken a backseat. True to the promises made during his Padayatra, YS Jagan is laying more emphasis on healthcare and education. In a way, education, health and welfare schemes have become the pet projects of the Chief Minister.
