Hyderabad: Two high school teachers were asked to go on leave after charges of sexual assault were leveled against them by two girl students studying in Class 10.

The girls allege that the teachers have been harassing them for the past couple of days. On Friday, the girls mustered the courage to lodge a complaint and went to the IIntegrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) that manages the school.

The school is located in Anantagiri mandal of Araku valley in Visakhapatnam district.

ITDA project officer R Balaji has ordered an inquiry. He has asked the scool teachers to go on leave pending inquiry. He assured that if the teachers are found guilty penal and disciplinary will be taken against the two.

“The allegation is that the teachers have been forcing the girl students to accompany them for entertainment. The girls approached local Communist leaders, who lodged a complaint with the ITDA,” Suryanarayana, assistant tribal welfare officer, who is probing the case had been quoted saying by a leading daily.

The mandal has two high schools. The tribal welfare girls’ high school-II has 440 students.

Four male and eight female teachers are working in the school, the daily reported.
