Azim Premji Foundation Representatives Meet YS Jagan, Promise Investment Free Natural Farming

Amaravati: Representatives from Azim Premji Foundation met Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and expressed interest in investing Rs 100 Crore in the farming sector in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

They also said that they were willing to extend technical assistance and know how in the areas of natural farming. Expressing his views, Chief Minister YS Jagan said that there was need to establish investment- free natural farming methods in the future. The farming methods have to be strengthened, he said and that the State government was willing to sell organic fertilisers at subsidized rates.

He also said that the government had come out with various welfare schemes for the farmers and in the future, the government was planning to provide quality seeds, fertilisers, pesticides that are first tested in laboratories and then distributed in villages.

He also informed them that the government was establishing Tabs at the district and constituencies. The State government was also working towards markets stabilisation measures to ensure that the farmers investment would be reduced.

Azim Premji Foundation CEO Anand Viswanath along with Agriculture Minister K Kannababu and Principal Secretary Madhusudhan Reddy along with Agriculture Commissioner Vijay Kumar also participated in the meeting.
