AP: Judicial Commission Draft Bill Gets Cabinet Nod

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gave their assent for the Judicial Commission Draft bill which will review tenders made during the past five years, on Friday.

Important highlights of the bill:

-Importance given to provide for basic necessities and prime importance given for transparency

-The Judicial commission to be chaired either by a sitting High Court Judge or retired senior judge

-Importance given to ensure everyone gets a fair chance in the tender process, quality, costs and other parameters to be checked

-If the project is valued at more than Rs 100 Crore then it should come under the purview of the high Court judge or retired high court judge

-Details pertaining to all Infrastructure projects from every department have to submit documents to the judge for perusal

-Judges to review all PPPs and Joint venture agreements etc.

-Government to appoint experts to assist the high Court judges in the commission. They also request government for specific assistance and experts based in the project

-People and experts can have discussions for one week over the project details

After 8 days the Judge will review the suggestions and recommendations

-Police protection for those who have given their recommendations and suggestions

-Officials of each department will have to follow instructions given by the Judge

-Tender nominations to be finalised within 15 days after which the bidding process starts

-Without any one person benefitting equal opportunities will be given to eligible contractors
