R Satyanarayana made an 8ft x 12 ft National Flag without a stitch

Visakhapatnam: A dream of weaving the tricolour as one fabric without any attachment or stitch has come true for a handloom weaver from Andhra Pradesh.

R Satyanarayana has made an 8ft x 12 ft National Flag with the Ashoka Chakra without a stitch, on which he spent close to four years. Realizing that his dream would cost him Rs 6.5 lakh, he sold off his ancestral house in Vemavaram village, West Godavari and shifted to a rented house.

According to Satyanarayana, there are no such flags available as the saffron, white and green khadi bands in the flag are predominantly stitched together. He even met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and handed over the flag to him during the PM's visit to Visakhapatnam. However, the weaver from Vemavaram village didn't get an opportunity to explain the uniqueness of the flag.

Now, he wants to take his dream a step forward with his tricolour be hoisted atop the Red Fort. Initially, Satyanarayana made a 4 ft x 6 ft flag but later realized the size needs to be larger to be hoisted atop the Red Fort.
