27,000 Polling Staff Gear Up In East Godavari District

Kakinada: About 27,000 personnel of all ranks would attend to polling duty in East Godavari district for the general elections on April 11.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Collector and district election officer Kartikeya Mishra said that the polling staff were provided necessary training and allotment of constituencies to them was completed.

However, the polling staffs would come to know about their stations on April 11, the collector said.

Meanwhile, webcasting of polling booths will be undertaken with the support of the agency Bruhaspati that has been identified by the Election Commission. The collector also stated that 3,780 web cameras will be used to keep a tab and BSNL will provide for technical support to cover the interior areas.

In places where the network could be weak, continuous video recording will be done of the booths.

Randomization of EVMs, VVPATs and loading of symbols in presence of representatives of political parties was near completion in all the constituencies in the district, the collector added.
