How Much Did Chandrababu Spend On His Foreign Tours?

Amaravati: Stating that the previous TDP government had spent Rs 38 .83 Crore on the foreign tours of former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his ministers and consultants, in the last five years, YSRCP leaders demanded to know as to why so much money was spent on these tours.

Speaking during the Question hour on Monday, AP Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Information Technology Mekapati Goutham Reddy said that the CMA would investigate the cost of Chandrababu's foreign trips.

Sarvepalli YSRCP MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy said that Chandrababu had spent Crores of rupees on special flights over the past five years. He demanded to know as to how many investments had Chandrababu brought to the state in the name of the Partnership Summits when he had gone to Davos. He demanded that an investigation by the central agencies be done to ascertain facts behind these foreign tours. He said that Chandrababu has misled the people with false assurance and the state had achieved no benefit through these foreign tours.

Responding to his queries Minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy said that he would investigate the cost of Chandrababu's foreign trips and a sub-committee was constituted to ascertain the details. From June 2014 to April 2019, CM, ministers, officials and consultants spent over Rs. 38,83,10,772 on foreign trips and signed 16 memorandums of understanding. All these will be thoroughly investigated, he said.

Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath said that Chandrababu has travelled 38 times over the past five years and that no other state chief minister has travelled so many times. He scoffed that the CM had looted public money in the in the name of foreign tours.
