Hyderabad: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma took a dig at actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan for his reasoning of cash for votes causing his loss in the recently held Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections.

The Jana Sena Party President, who contested the elections from two Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh, lost both the seats. Pawan garnered 62,285 votes in Bhimavaram, losing to YSRCP’s Grandhi Srinivas who got 70,642 votes. Pawan also trailed in Gajuwaka, losing out to YSRCP’s Nagireddy Tippala by 16,486 votes.

Responding to his loss, Pawan Kalyan alleged that Rs 150 crore was invested to ensure his loss in the elections.

Speaking for the first-time after the election results were declared, Pawan Kalyan at a press conference on Saturday made a statement without mentioning any party that with the sole aim to defeat him, they ensured that he does not enter the Assembly.

The Jana Sena Chief added that he found out that his opponents spent around Rs 150 crore to defeat him in Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram constituencies.

Calling out Pawan Kalyan over his allegations on Twitter, Ram Gopal Varma said that it is an insult to the voters and added that the voters would take the money from other political parties and still vote for him if they wanted Pawan Kalyan to win.

His tweet reads, "Pawan Kalyan saying he lost because 150 Crore was given to voters is a real insult to voters because he’s saying people who he wants to serve are corrupt. If voters wanted him they could take money from others and still voted him. If Pawan Kalyan also has to give money for votes what’s the point in being Pawan Kalyan? Just asking."
