Over 1,000 Bottles Of Liquor Seized In Krishna District

Vijayawada: Ahead of Andhra Pradesh election on April 11, over 1,000 bottles of liquor were seized by the police at the Venkatapuram area under Musunuru Mandal in Krishna district on Thursday.

Police said that they intercepted a yellow tanker that was heading towards Velpucherla village from Gopavaram ar 12 pm.

In a container inside the tanker, there were nine gunny bags that contained 1,045 bottles of alcohol.

Police said that they seized the bottles and have informed the excise department and election officials about it.

However, police sources said that the yellow colour of the tanker suggested that the illegal consignment could belong to the TDP, which was perhaps going to be distributed across the Nuzvid assembly constituency.

Probe is on into the matter.
