Jaleel Khan’s daughter Shabana Khatoon Puts TDP in A Spot

Shabana Khatoon, the Telugu Desam Party MLA candidate from Vijayawada West Constituency has put the ruling party in a spot of bother. MLA Jaleel Khan's daughter Shabana's nomination has become a cause of anxiety in TDP circles because she filed her nomination without giving up her American citizenship. The TDP leadership fears that this could lead to her nomination getting rejected and for this reason, her father, Jaleel Khan of B.Com physics fame, also filed his nomination.

If Shabhana Khatoon's nomination gets rejected by the returning officer, Jaleel Khan would be forced into he electoral fray.

It may be recalled Jaleel Khan won the seat in 2014 on a YSRCP ticket and later defected to the TDP. He faces powerful anti-incumbency sentiment in the constituency. This is the prime reason why Chandrababu Naidu decided to field his daughter Shabana Khatoon but his plans may have gone awry.
