Vijayawada:The political scene in Vijayawada are hotting up. Vijayawada Central is becoming the epicentre of a seismic change sweeping over the city.

Carved out in 2009, Vijayawada Central had seen Malladi Vishnu of the Congress registering a victory. But in 2014, TDP's Bonda Umamaheswara Rao defeated YSRCP's Gowtham Reddy by over 30000 votes. This time around, the TDP has nominated Bonda Uma again for the seat. But, the TDP candidate has a mountain to climb at the hustings. He faces a tidal wave of anti-incumbency due to his land grab spree and irregularities. He is also widely accused of being corrupt. Malladi Vishnu is now the YSRCP candidate and hails from the Brahmin community.

Known to have a clean image and endowed with a soft-spoken nature, he has considerable following in the constituency. Malladi Vishnu is also known to a loyalist of late YSR. Besides these positive attributes, as also his accessibility, he will also draw considerable mileage from the anti-incumbency wave against the TDP and Bonda Uma.

To bail out Bonda Uma, the Jana Sena has decided not put up a candidate. Instead, it gave the seat to the CPM. So, the real fight would be between Bonda and Malladi Vishnu. All the surveys are predicting a facile win for Malladi Vishnu. This key seat is likely to swing the YSRCP way in the April 11 elections.
