Kurnool: As the former Union government Minister Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy is all set to join Telugu Desam party, the current MP Butta Renuka’s position has become precarious.

It is learnt, that Kurnool MP Butta Renuka has contacted Chandrababu Naidu to discuss her position in the party as Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy might get the MP ticket from Kurnool in the upcoming elections.

The Kurnool MP, who joined TDP after winning on a YSRCP ticket was reportedly told that the candidates' list has not been finalised yet and the issue will be dealt later.
Renuka’s supporters said that while joining the party she was assured preference in getting the MP ticket in 2019 elections. Even IT and Panchayat Raj minister N Lokesh in one of his previous speeches said that Butta Renuka should be reelected to the House, they added. They expressed their dissatisfaction by saying Chandrababu is conducting Jayaho meetings for the BCs and is doing injustice to a BC woman.

Butta Renuka is a novice in politics and won in the previous elections with the support of YSRCP. However, after the elections, her husband joined TDP and she continued initially being in the YSRCP. Later she crossed over to the ruling TDP. Renuka was assured of Rs 50 crore in the name of Akshar scheme and land for her school in the capital Amaravati. After joining the ruling party, she was not given any preference though.

However Renuka’s supporters are hoping that she might contest from the Yemmiganur seat as MLA, but the current MLA Jayanageswara Reddy is a close aide of Lokesh and a cloud hangs over her chances.

Losing either of them is coming as a shock to her. On one hand, BC associations are getting ready to fight against for this move and on the other hand, KE Krishna Murthy called as the elder brother by supporters said he was unaware of this development that Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy was joining the party.

For the past several decades Kotla and KE clans are at loggerheads and many people have lost their lives fighting for the leaders perpetuating factionism. His supporters are expressing their disgust at the TDP leadership over the issue. It is being predicted that KE Krishna Murthy will respond over the issue once the number of tickets being allocated to Kotla group is announced.
