Vijayawada: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court at Vijayawada ordered the Andhra Pradesh police to hand over Janepalli Srinivasa Rao, the accused in the case on attack on Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to NIA's custody for a period of seven days. In its order, the Court asked the police to hand over the attacker to NIA after conducting medical tests on the accused. It also asked them to conduct medical tests once every three days.

"If Srinivasa Rao so desires, the probe may be conducted in presence of an advocate. Third degree treatment can not be used during the probe," said the Court in its order.

It may be recalled that the YSRCP Chief survived a murder attempt on October 25, 2018, inside the VIP Lounge of the Visakhapatnam Airport. Recently, the case was transferred to Vijayawada after the NIA took it over.
