PM Modi Slams Chandrababu’s Opportunistic Politics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in strong terms describing it as a regime riddled with scams. The BJP-led NDA government was committed to the development of Andhra Pradesh, he said. He was addressing BJP workers from Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Narsapuram, Machilipatnam and Vizianagaram constituencies, through video-conferencing as part of the BJP initiative in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, 'mera booth, sab se mazboot'.

PM Modi tore into the TDP supremo's politics of opportunism, saying that the Telugu Desam party under Chandrababu drifted far away from its own ideology. He commented that it was indulging in false propaganda against the Centre.

Modi reminded the workers that the TDP founder, NTR, had established the party to protect Telugu pride and honour. NTR had described the Congress party as 'dushta' (wicked) while those at the helm of affairs in AP today, are treating it as their 'dost', PM Modi remarked. Blasting Chandrababu's stance he questioned whether the TDP chief wants to say that NTR was wrong.

PM Modi took a jibe at the TDP-Congress-CPI-TJS alliance in the Telangana assembly elections saying that the results were there for all to see. The people of AP would also reject such poll pacts, he predicted.

Truth alone can defeat the tsunami of lies being spread by the TDP, he told party workers. Modi observed that government machinery is being used to spread false propaganda and truth will triumph over it.

The prime minister remarked that Chandrababu Naidu cannot face the people and tell them that he had failed to deliver on his promises. Instead, he resorts to blaming Modi for everything since the TDP government had failed on all counts.

Lashing out at Chandrababu Naidu, the prime minister sought to know why funds given by the Centre were not spent on welfare schemes meant for the people. Citing an instance PM modi said that over Rs. 1,000 crore were released for the development of 7 backward districts in AP. The state government did not provide utilization certificates on time, he pointed out.

Referring to the resource gap and revenue deficit funding, the prime minister pointed out that close to an amount of Rs. 20,000 crore was released over a period of four years. The state government claims that it had not received the money. Then whose pockets did this money go into, he asked.

PM Modi also launched a scathing attack on Chandrababu Naidu's version of the Polavaram project. The CAG reports show that the AP government proved to be completely inefficient. He said that the project was declared a national one funded totally by the Centre. The Union government had released Rs.7,000 crore for the project. The AP government showed its keenness to be the executor of the project works. The Centre agreed even to this, he pointed out, and yet, the AP government could not execute this job. He questioned the TDP government for its failure on this.

PM Modi pointed out among the ten premier educational institutions of national calibre sanctioned and started in AP were IIT, IIIT, AIIMS, IIM, NIT, Indian Institute of Science and Research, Central University, Tribal University and Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy. This was the most for any state in the country, he said.
