Kurnool: YSR Congress Party State general secretary Gouru Venkat Reddy slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for deceiving the people of Kurnool District with false promises of making Kurnool a developed district.

YSR Congress party general secretary Gouru Venkat Reddy said several promises made by Chandrababu had not taken shape.

Chandrababu was scheduled to inaugurate the Daddanala lift irrigation project on Friday in Banganapalle constituency, but cancelled his program in the last minute. The foundation stone for the Daddanala lift irrigation project was inaugurated by the former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy in 2011. But till date, there has been no further development.

After bifurcation, Chandrababu had chosen Kurnool to conduct Independence Day celebrations and promised to transform the district into a prosperous industrial zone. He had also promised to build a flood wall to protect Kurnool town from the flood waters entering the town, but till date there is no sign of any such construction.

It may be recalled that the TDP chief had made a total of 28 promises for the development of the Kurnool including-

· An International Airport at Orvakallu,

· Agricultural university in Nandyal,

· Smart city tag for Kurnool,

· Deer protection park at Alur,

· Modernisation of Kurnool Government hospital

· Textile mills and textile hub

· Mega food park , Seeds production centre

· a 1,000 MW Solar Power plant, Logistics park

· Plastic park, Urdu University,

· The state government had also given administrative sanction of Rs. 450 crore for setting up an IIIT in the district

· Institute of Mines at Dhone

· University of Medical Science

With just six months left for the AP elections and many of the irrigation projects and pending in the Rayalaseema region, looks like the promises made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to turn around the economy of Kurnool is unlikely to be fulfilled.
