Did you hear the latest news on Andhra Pradesh Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu's root canal treatment? The minister has spent Rs 2.80 lakh for the treatment. Typically, the root canal treatment would cost not more than Rs 10,000 in the Telugu States. But, since the ministers and MLAs have the power to issue Government Orders in their favour, they would spend public funds at their will. Why is the minister skeptical about the healthcare sector in the State, after all the development Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu claims to have done? Does it mean that the local government hospitals are not equipped with the technology for carrying out the treatment? Even if it is true, the joint capital of Hyderabad numerous facilities in dentistry and root canal treatment.

Former minister and YSR Congress party leader Parthasarathi recently observed that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao diverted Krishna development funds to construct a walking track for himself. However, it has to be said that these irregularities are a speck in comparison to the thousands of crores of wastage of public money by Chandrababu Naidu.

Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his recent public meeting as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, explained in detail, the lavish spendings of Chandrababu and his family in the last four years. YS Jagan said that the TDP chief had spent a astounding amount of Rs 6,000 crores for his personal needs.

In a notable observation, none of the TDP leaders have neither responded to YS Jagan's claims nor have they found fault with the numbers, proving them to be true. In a recent interview, former Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam revealed the true face of Chandrababu's spending of public money. "Only in emergency situations do Chief Ministers fly by special helicopters, but Chandrababu travels in helicopters at his will. Also, chief ministers are not authorized to operate from more than one Camp Office, but Chandrababu wasted a lot of money for building five offices," Ajeya Kallam said.

Reports suggest that Chandrababu has spent crores of public money for accommodating his family in a luxury hotel in Hyderabad. He has also bought a special bus worth Rs 5 crore. Prior to the outbreak of the Note-for-Vote case, Chandrababu carried out of crores of rupees worth modernization works in the Secretariat and Lake View Guest House in the joint capital. However, currently they are lying vacant thanks to Chandrababu's shutting shop in Hyderabad following the Note-for-Vote case. The Telangana government, on the other hand, has been requesting the AP government's permission to utilize the buildings, yet, Chandrababu is not ready to give them up.

Similarly, Chandrababu wasted thousands of crores of money in the name of the Godavari-Krishna Pushkarams, temporary government buildings and others. In an unforeseen turn of events, Chandrababu has built temporary buildings at the cost of Rs 10,000 per sq ft, while complaining that Andhra Pradesh is a poor State.

TDP founder and late Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao ran the government from his residence, that had a few employees and a Public Relations Officer (PRO). Even before the completion of construction of the Polavaram Irrigation project, Chandrababu wasted Rs 22 crore for mobilizing people to the project location. The AP CM's urge to showcase the Centrally-funded project as his own achievement speaks volumes about his opportunistic nature, as also his Narcissistic tendencies.

On top of all this, Chandrababu continues to spend public money for mobilizing people in buses for his 'Dharma Porata Deeksha.' If the people of Andhra Pradesh continue to stay mum on Chandrababu's atrocities, we will soon witness the destruction of democracy. Given the police force being used against protesters who demand their rights, it is not possible to approach Chandrababu. However, the public should demand accountability in governance from elected representatives.
