Karimnagar Hotel Serves Plate Biryani for Re 1, Police Serve Rs 235 Challan

Karimnagar: The recent promotional campaign of the newly opened hotel in Karimnagar hit the headlines but for all the wrong reasons. The management of the Empire Hotel, which opened near Telangana chowk here on Friday, announced that customers who bring Re.1 currency note will be given one biryani packet. They also said the offer will begin after 2.30 pm and one biryani packet will be provided per head.

The news promotional offer soon went viral on WhatsApp and people started gathering outside the hotel with Re.1 note in their hands. The hotel management sold over 800 biryani packets for Re.1. Soon, the hotel management ran out of biryani and the people who were waiting in the scorching sun started protesting and tried to force their way inside the hotel. The police were called and the situation was brought under control. The enraged customers demanded the police to book a case against the hotel management for causing them distress with the offer.

The huge turnout of people at the hotel also caused traffic issues in the area as they had parked their vehicles in a haphazard manner. The traffic police  regulated the traffic and started issuing challans to people between Rs 100 and Rs 235 for not parking their bikes in the designated areas.
