3 Youths Held For Posting Kanigiri Sexual Assault Video

Prakasam: Three youths were arrested on Tuesday in connection with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old college girl in Prakasam's Kanigiri town.

The main accused Sai (19), a BSc agriculture student, was in relationship with the victim. The girl, however, broke with him realizing his intention that he was only interested to sexually exploit her. Sai, was provoked by friends - Karthik (22), a B.Tech student, and K. Pawan (21), son of a police constable, to seek revenge on the girl by making her video and blackmailing her.

Sai then convinced the girl to come to a place on the outskirts of Kanigiri town to talk about their relationship. The girl was accompanied by her friend and all the five ventured into fields. The video shows Sai groping the girl even as she pleads to leave her. He even tries to disrobe her, while his friends Karthik shot the video in his mobile camera. Though the victim’s friend tried to intervene, it was in vain.

The incident happened on August 29, but it came to light on Tuesday after the accused shared it on WhatsApp and Facebook. A case under section 67 of IT Act and sections 354A, 354B, 376 read with 511 of the IPC was registered.

SP Satya Yesu Babu said, “We requested the victim’s parents to file a complaint after which we registered the case."
