Will continue doing similar movies: Nayanthara on recent controversy

Lady Superstar Nayanthara has reacted to the controversy over her recent OTT project Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food which faced a severe backlash over its content.  

An FIR was filed against the makers of Annapoorani for “hurting religious sentiments” and Vishwa Hindu Parishad had also warned the online streaming platform Netflix, following which the film was pulled off the OTT platform and a public apology was issued by the makers. 

Recently, she attended an award ceremony where she spoke about it. Nayanthara said as an actor she feels compelled to do movies which portray empowered women as their overlooked or silenced voices need to be amplified. 

In Annapoorani, Nayanthara played the role of an aspiring chef. The southern actress has come a long way from commercials to films with social messages. The actress, who is in her late thirties, has been given continuous hits. 

After a stellar performance in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Jawan’, reports suggest, she will soon appear in another Hindi movie. On the work front, she will next be seen in ‘Test’ and ‘Mannangatti Since 1960’ movies.
