A snake measuring about six feet was rescued from the famous Agra fort, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The staff found the rat snake amidst a pile of unused wires inside the control room of the sound-and-light show organised at the fort. They immediately alerted the animal welfare NGO wildlife. A three-member team from the NGO, then carefully transferred the snake into a safe transport container.

The rat snake are non poisonous but known to be quick and easily excitable, and may bite if threatened. Therefore, the rescuers exercised caution while approaching the snake as they wanted to avoid cornering or alarming it.
Agra fort is a Mughal era structure and holds the status of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A similar incident happened last year in which a six foot long snake entered Taj Mahal in search of water.
